MINDEN WILD WATER
Carole Finn – Haliburton

A series of large dramatic acrylic paintings inspired by the churning waters of the
Minden Wild Water Preserve, Gull River.
Minden Wild River Preserve
The Minden Wild Water Preserve is located on a section of the Gull River just outside of Minden. It is privately owned and operated by Whitewater Ontario.
The Preserve is located off Highway 35 just past the Highway 121 junction north of Minden. Turn left on County Road #20 Horseshoe Lake Road and follow it for about 3.5 km. to the Gull River on the right.

Biography
Carole’s artistic talents were nurtured in her teenage years in Peterborough. She became a Teacher in 1960 and an Art Specialist. She has been one of the driving forces behind Haliburton’s art scene since the late 1960’s. She was a founding partner in the Haliburton School of the Arts, now a campus of Fleming College, founder and first curator of the Rails End Gallery and founder, Haliburton Highlands Guild of Fine Arts, founding member for the Haliburton County Arts Council, and is a Director the Sculpture Forest Committee. In 2007-2008, she operated her own art gallery in Minden.
After earning a fine arts degree in the 1980’s, she is now finally able to devote herself wholeheartedly to being an artist. She has worked professionally as a Painter and Printmaker since 2007. Her artistic vision has been developed through years of training at OCAD, at York University Fine Art, and at the Haliburton School of the Arts. The Trails and Beaches of the Pacific Rim, a series of 14 paintings, were exhibited at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery in Minden and the Black Rock Resort near Ucluelet on Vancouver Island in 2009.
She has already chosen the subject of her third series of paintings, the Haliburton Forest.
Artist’s Statement
As an artist, I want my paintings to encourage people to visit the areas that have inspired me – the Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island and with this exhibit, the Minden Wild Water Preserve. I strive to create forceful and strong works that allow the viewer to feel the intensity of my experience deep in their being.
