Here are Pamela Edmonds comments after completing the difficult selection process.
"It is truly exciting to see so many artists whose works show such a diverse range of talents. It was not easy to choose from such a wide variety of accomplished artists, but I hope you will enjoy the selection and accomplishments of the practitioners from this region. My congratulations to all the participating artists and award winners, and my sincere thanks to all those who took the time to submit entries to this wonderful project."

People's Choice Award Winner
On the Rocks by RoseMarie Condon of Fenelon Falls was voted the most popular work of art in the July Juried Show at the Lindsay Gallery, winning the People's Choice Award sponsored by Stewart Morrison Insurance Brokers Ltd.

RoseMarie Condon with her painting "On The Rocks"
"On The Rocks was painted after my most recent Arctic voyage. Much current scientific research finds the Canada’s polar bear population to be threatened by the diminishing Arctic multi-year ice pack. I witnessed huge changes in ice pack conditions and in the size of glaciers I was familiar with from my previous voyage.
Our zodiac circled a small island east of Baffin Island; we were delighted to see this eight year old male polar bear swimming close to shore. As we kept pace with him at a respectful distance he clambered out of the frigid water and over huge boulders at the shoreline. I painted him descending toward the sea all the while hoping that something can be done to save his habitat from the deterioration that appears well underway.
I am delighted to receive ‘The People’s Choice Award’ for ‘On the Rocks’. This award means more to me than any other. I am glad that patrons of The Lindsay Gallery were pleased with my portrayal of this handsome bear, strong, healthy but stranded on Monumental Island until the ice floes return with the seals that breed there and provide sustenance for him. If my painting raised a greater awareness of the beauty and fragility of our Canadian ecology I am satisfied. I thank Marlene Morrison Nicholls and Stewart Morrison Insurance Brokers Ltd. Their generous support of the fine arts in the City of Kawartha Lakes is greatly appreciated."
