Letters Home - Linda Finn
September 3 - 27

Juno #2
Using a variety of techniques, including paint, drawing, printmaking and stitchery, Linda Finn has assembled a show of mixed media pieces in loosely constructed grid formats.
These pieces, unlike her past work, represent a link between the women at home during the two World Wars and their men overseas. Letters, parcels, and other ephemera are part of this history, as are the locales. By bringing these components together as new forms of letters, she presents a different correspondence for the viewer.

Parcel #1
The inspiration for this series were letters written to Linda Finn's grandmother during both World Wars.
From the artist:
"As a woman and an artist who has never experienced war, these letters evoked powerful emiotions in me. When I felt compelled to honour the words found in the letters by using them in this new work, I found that viewers were also moved"
Opening Reception: Thursday, September 4, 7 pm
