LANDSCAPES THROUGH MY EYES
Peter Wippert – Lindsay
The beautiful woods, waters and fields of Ontario are captured in over 60 oil and acrylic paintings by this well-known self-taught prolific local artist. Most of these works were done in the past year specially for this exhibit.
Although Peter's work has been exhibited widely in Canada and the US over the past 40+ years during which time Peter estimates he has sold over 4,000 paintings, this is his first solo exhibit in a public art gallery.
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 9, 1-2:30 pm

Artist's Statement and Biography
I have lived in the Lindsay area since 1967. I am a self-taught painter. I have displayed my work at many exhibits in Canada and the United States. Now 79, I continue to exhibit atseveral arts festivals and events each year but at locales closer to home.
My painting started in the early 1960's when Janet, our youngest of five daughters, left her Christmas paint set on the table. By 2 am, I had finished copying a Christmas card. I proudly woke up my wife and informed her that I was going to be an artist. Laughing, she told me to go away ... Well here I am, forty years later, still painting and loving it.
My wife Peggy is an artist too, specializing in animal and people portraits. For many years, we exhibited together.
The majority of the 64 paintings on display in this exhibit were done in 2009 in preparation for this exhibit. The one piece that is not for sale is my first painting. (I think I have improved a bit from then!)
