“Delicate” by Joey Lawrence Sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Lindsay Juror's Comments: “Great composition – reinforces the content/meaning. Great use of colour for emphasis and texture, too. The lamination made me hesitate: what does this form of presentation suggest? (poster art!) But I got over my prejudice.” Technical Skill and Use of Colour
“Divigate” by P.T. Poulton-McGraw Sponsored by Settlers' Village Artists Juror's Comments: “Limited palette, high graphic quality (contrast), blended paint and use of wood grain to emphasize composition.” Technical Skill and Creative Use of Medium in 3-D Form
“From Above” by Shawn Schofield Sponsored by Retired Teachers of Ontario , District 18 Juror's Comments: “The interior space, the tilt. Lighting could be used to create incredible shadow drawings on the wall. I'd like to see a weld at every intersection.”
Interpretation of Personal Vision
“Viewfinder” by Charlene Gibbons Sponsored by Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation Juror's Comments: “Complex! The averted gaze of the figure is actually redirected through the viewfinder. Interplay between tonal values and pattern is excellent.” Juror's Choice Awards “Sightless” by Robin Murray Sponsored by CIBC, Lindsay Branch Juror's Comments: “Humour and anxiety are a great combination. Scale is great, too, and the glue could be tears or conjunctivitis!!” “Alzheimer's” by Ashley Washburn Hayden Sponsored by Kawartha Arts Festival Juror's Comments: “The title made the piece – subtle and beautiful and fragile ” “Self Portrait” by Sebastian Koever Sponsored by Settlers' Village Artists Juror's Comments: Obsessive tinkering can be a good thing. The continuous contour is countered by the frantic compulsive floating thoughts.” Honourable Mentions “Floor Cloth” by Amanda Taylor Juror's Comments: “Humour! Very painstakingly painted, especially the burnt wood! Articulation of edge is great.” |
