Pen/Ink Technique
Absolute Beginners to Expert
Instructor: Gunter Herkner
Date: 4 consecutive Saturday mornings, Sept. 11, 18, 25 and **Oct. 2

Fee: $120 for Gallery members, $135 non-members for 10 hours of instruction
Learn to create a type of art by simply using today’s felt-tipped pens. If you want, you can also use pens, nibs and the variety of inks available. Instruction will be given in freehand drawing, the principles of point perspective, thoughts on light and shadow on various objects, how to draw buildings, trees and other landscape features.
One-a-Day Portraits – Classical Oil Painting
Novice to Advanced
Instructor: Sandy “Goguen” MacKenzie
Dates: Sunday, September 12 and Sunday, September 26
Time: 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Location: CKL Police Services Community Room, 6 Victoria Ave. North, Lindsay
Fee: $120 for Gallery members, $135 non-members for 10 hours of instruction
Learn the different colours for the faceand produceone portrait each Sunday.
The paint will be applied thick in a mosaic pattern. You will learn to see a variety of colour in the face. This allows more depth and realism. It isn’t hard and is a lot of fun.

Sunflowers – Watercolours
Novice to Advanced
Instructor: Alana Biasi
Date: Weekend of September 18 and 19
Time: 11 am -- 5 pm on Saturday, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm on Sunday
Location: upstairs in Loblaws, Lindsay
Fee: $144 for Gallery members, $160 non-members for 12 hours of instruction
Paint a half-sheet floral of sunflowers using rubber cement, salt and frisket. Some negative painting will be incorporated. You don’t necessarily have to be an experienced painter for this workshop because sunflowers are quite a simple subject, but you must at least be a Novice. We really throw the paint around in this class so come out, have fun and be amazed at your results.
Classical Oil Painting
Beginner to Advanced
Instructor: Sandy “Goguen” MacKenzie
Date: 6 consecutive Thursdays, September 16 to October 2
Time: 6-9 pm
Location: LCVI Art Room 126, Kent St. West, Lindsay
Fee: $162 for Gallery members, $180 for non-members for 18 hours of instruction
Learn to paint in the structured steps of the old masters. By achieving a layered effect, your paintings will have the depth, rich colours and a soft appearance. You will learn colour mixing, brush usage, paint application and also glazing.
Landscape Watercolour Techniques
Novice to Intermediate
Instructor: Cindy Bell
Date: 8 consecutive Tuesday evenings, starting September 21 to November 9
Time: 6:30 -- 9:30 pm
Location: LVCI Art Room
Fee: $220 for Gallery members, $245 non-members for 24 hours of instruction
Have fun de-mystifying those complicated-looking watercolour techniques. You will learn easy approaches to water, skies, foliage, etc., and paint an original 11x14” and several vignettes. If time permits, we will touch on floral techniques as well.
This is a perfect course for Novices, graduates of the Absolute Beginners course or anyone with some watercolour experience.
Window Box with Mixed Flowers – Watercolours
Novice to Advanced

Date: Weekend of October 2 and 3
Time: 11 am -- 5 pm on Saturday, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm on Sunday
Location: upstairs at Loblaws - Lindsay

A riot of colour and a nostalgic window box will be the subject. Step-by-step instruction and handouts will ensure a vibrant 11x14 floral. Some watercolour experience is an asset for this fun and informative weekend workshop.
Victorian House Snow Scene – Watercolours
Intermediate to Advanced

Date: Weekend of October 16 and 17
Time: 11 am -- 5 pm on Saturday, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm on Sunday
Location: upstairs at Loblaws – Lindsay
Fee: $144 for Gallery members; $160 non-members for 12 hours of instruction
Paint a pretty half or quarter sheet scene depicting an older Victoria home all snuggled in for winter. Learn how to render snow under the warm glow of a winter evening. Suitable for Christmas gifts or cards.
Glass in a Still-Life Set up – Classical Oil Painting
Novice to Advanced

Time: 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

Fee: $120 for Gallery members, $135 non-members for 10 hours of instruction
Learn to paint a glass object in your own still life set-up, such as a clear vase, wine glass, etc. Bring a still life photo with a glass object. Painting glass is just a matter of really seeing what is in front of you.

Art Class Registration Form and How to Register
Art Class Registration Form
Use this form for registering for Adult art classes with the Lindsay Gallery. Forms can either be filled out directly on the pdf and emailed back, or printed and mailed in or delivered personally to the Gallery.
Payment is required to register and early registration is recommended, as class size is limited. Registration for all classes are accepted at the Gallery, from 10:00am to 4pm. Open Tuesday to Saturday.
Classes may be paid by cash, cheque, Mastercard or Visa.
If there is not enough enrollment in a class, it will be cancelled one week prior to the start date. A full refund will apply.
___________________________________________________________CHILDREN'S SUMMER ART CAMP 2010- Painting and Pottery
The 2010 Camp for children aged 7-12 was held at Heritage Christian School from July 12 to 16. The week-long program featured three days of pottery, acrylic painting on wood and Chinese brush painting. In addition to the three artist instructors, the volunteer Supervisor was Board Member Susan Taylor, and her assistant was student volunteer member Phillip Nicholls. The week culminated with an Art Show on Friday afternoon at 3pm when all the paintings and pottery by the children over the week are on display for parents and other guests.

SUMMER ART CAMP 2011
For parents with creative children who enjoy art, the program for next year's Summer Art Camp for children aged 7-12 will be announced in March 2011. Parents wishing to receive information as soon as it is available are asked to send their request to director@thelindsaygallery.com or call 324-1780 to be placed on the waiting list. Class sizes are limited and registration will be on a first come basis.

Use this form for registering your child for the March Break Art Camp Class or Summer Art Camp with the Lindsay Gallery.
Children's Contact and Release Form
This form is required for all children registered for our day classes. It provides the art instructors with information on any health issues they should be aware of and contact information in the event of an emergency.
It is also a Release Form for you to consent to use of any pictures of your child the Gallery might take to be used in promotional materials about our children's programs.

Art Class Instructors
The Lindsay Gallery is interested in offering a variety of mediums and skill level art classes for adults and children in the City of Kawartha Lakes. We offer Adult Spring and Fall programs (Feb to June and Sept to December). For Children's programs we offer week long Art Camps featuring a different instructor daily, during March Break and July.
